“For me, the Fisherfield Munros would have been unattainable were it not for the assistance of WalkDeeside, and in particular Alan’s personal support and encouragement. This hill day was a serious test of physical and mental endurance, but Alan made sure we were fully prepared for the task. Being in that wild land, in that company, made for an unforgettable mountain experience. The feeling of coming back into camp, and reflecting on our achievement while enjoying a dram and a bowl of WalkDeeside pasta, will take some beating.” N. D. London.

Fisherfield Six

Join us on a journey into the heart of this Great Wilderness area, climb An Teallach, a truly mighty mountain, and experience the classic round of the ‘Fisherfield Six’. We can help you achieve this challenge of a lifetime.

Using the WalkDeeside luxury minibus we will depart from Aberdeen on Wednesday and drive to Dundonell, stopping at pick up points en route. For the first two nights you will be staying at Sail Mohr Croft, (Link) a high quality hostel on the shore of Little Loch Broom. Dinner will be taken at the nearby Dundonnell Hotel with time to discuss the mountain days ahead of you. On Thursday, following breakfast in the hostel, you will be able to make up your packed lunch before setting off for a ‘warm up’ day on mighty An Teallach. This will be a memorable and spectacular mountain day which will require you to use your hands and feet.

After breakfast on Friday we will prepare for our circumnavigation of the ‘Big Fisherfield Six’. Once all the kit and food have been checked and packed we will go to a local restaurant to enjoy a good lunch. Then it will be time to set off on our big adventure by walking from the road into Shenavall where we will camp near the bothy. A camp supper will be followed by an early night.

To make full use of the daylight on Saturday we will leave the camp early with our day sacks and plenty of food and water. The walk in from Shenavall brings you into the heart of the Wilderness with some of the remotest and most isolated Munros. Geological faults, massive evidence of glaciation and huge basins of water provide the basis of the challenge for this expedition. Commencing from the easterly Beinn a' Claidheimh and walking in a clockwise direction we will progress over the next three Munros enjoying excellent seascape views. Then we make our way to the rocky bastion of A’ Mhaighdean and Ruadh Stac Mor. From here the trail back to Shenavall is long, but pumped full of adrenalin from a fantastic mountain day and spurred on by a tremendous sense of achievement you will finally see your tent awaiting you.

Next morning we make our way back along the track for a refreshing shower at Sail Mohr Croft. Then we set off on our homeward journey full of satisfaction at having completed one of Scotland’s iconic mountain traverses.
