WalkDeeside Ltd provide these introductory workshops for those people who are uncertain about using and relying on a map and compass and for those who have never used them before. These are good taster sessions and also give appropriate access to the bronze level of the National Navigation Award Scheme.

Aim – To provide you with the basic skills and confidence in map reading

Objectives -   To understand the basic principles of map reading; Grid Reference, Scale and Classification.

To introduce the concept of the compass

To practice learnt skills on local low-level ground

To provide access to the Bronze Level of the NNAS
