In conjunction with Jing Zhang, our most welcoming host in Beijing, WalkDeeside Ltd are delighted to offer a walking/sightseeing holiday in a remote part of the Peoples Republic of China.

ITINERARY AT A GLANCE..

ITINERARY IN MORE DETAIL..

Day1 - Depart from UK

Day2 - Arrive in Beijing, transfer to hotel and settle in. There will be some free time, depending on the time of arrival, for a general acclimatisation and orientation walk around the streets near the hotel.

Day3 - We will visit the famous Tian An Men Square and the Forbidden City, then after a traditional dinner, leaving at 20:00, we will take an evening first class sleeper train to Mount Wudang.

Day4 - Arrive in city of Xiangfan at 09:00, breakfast and then a 2-3 hour bus journey up to Wudang Mountain, staying in the hotel half way up the mountain, beside a Taoist temple.
Meeting master Zhong and then see around the temple in the afternoon.

Day5 - We will tour the mountain by bus and foot to each historical site. There are some magnificent caves and shrines to see in the area. This will be a good introductory walk.

Day6 - A walking tour on the mountain, including a visit to a farming village and meal with a local family. This a most beautiful and peaceful mountain setting with exotic trees, fragrant flowers and spring water.

Day7 - Walking down the hill now with more
sightseeing, including visiting a 125 year old Daoist lady at the bottom of the mountain (if she is still alive, WalkDeeside Ltd cannot accept responsibility etc etc.) then catch the overnight train to City of Luoyiang.

Day8 - After a 7-8 hour train journey we will arrive in Luoyiang early in the morning, then transfer to the hotel for a wash, change and a little rest and relaxation. In the afternoon we will go and visit the famous 1000 year old Longmen [dragon gate ] Grottoes in China.

Day9 - Bike or bus to the ruins of ancient city wall 30 km away in suburb right at the Yellow River beside the second biggest river in China, after the Yangtze. We will lunch here and walk around the area and along the city wall, back to city for our traditional evening dinner.

Day10 - A visit and walk around the site of the White Horse Temple in the morning and some free time in down town before we take the overnight train back to Beijing, which is about a 9 hour train journey.

Day11 - Arrive in Beijing about breakfast time. Transfer to hotel and in the afternoon visit the Temple of Heaven and Qing Dynasty prince mansion in afternoon.

Day12- The Great Wall and Ming Tombs trip for the whole day!! A fantastic quintessential Chinese experience.

Day13 - A visit to the Summer Palace and Lama Temple for the day, with an evening farewell party of Chinese music with our new Chinese friends for the last night of this walking/sightseeing tour of China.

Day14 - pack ready for the flight back to UK.

Day15 - Arrive back in UK
