Deeside is found to the West of Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland. It is the heart of WalkDeeside Ltd and is where the majority of our activities take place. The scenery is spectacular and unspoilt and is the famous and loved holiday destination of the Royal Family. The River Dee, famous for it's Salmon fishing, flows through the middle of the Glen with it's estuary in Aberdeen and provides some fantastic opportunities for wildlife watching or just taking in your surroundings and enjoying it. Pannanich Wells Hotel and Morven View Cottages.

 

 

 

 

The Pannanich Wells Hotel is positioned in a quiet rural location just a short distance just a short distance from the pretty village of Ballater.

Built circa 1760 to house health seekers coming to "take the waters" from the famous Pannanich Springs.

With three separate springs the water today is bottled commercially and marketed as 'Deeside Spring Water' and 'Royal Deeside Spring Water'.

Darroch Learg Hotel.

The Darroch Learg - one of Royal Deeside's favourite hotels - is known for its relaxing charm, lovely situation and fine restaurant. Darroch Learg is run by Nigel and Fiona Franks, having been in the Franks' family for over 40 years.

Darroch Learg was built in 1888 in fashionable Royal Deeside. Its old Gaelic name translates as 'the oak wood on the sunny hillside'.

Originally it was a country residence and it still retains the ambience and relaxing informality which makes you feel like a house guest in a private mansion.

The Deeside Hotel.

Glen Davan House.

Crannach

Wonderfully located in the heart of Royal Deeside and within the Cairngorms National Park, close to Balmoral, and just 2½ miles from Ballater. Crannach is the perfect place to relax away from the bustle of suburbia, with pleasant views, and is well placed to explore this area's wonderful scenery.

 

Visitors are welcome to wander the pretty grounds, visit the owners' gallery or dine at their attractive restaurant, just 50 yards away.

Only 2 miles away, wildlife and birds are abundant in the extensive moorland and loch area of the Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve; and 40 minutes walk to Crannach, the many forest cycle paths and country walks are a pleasure throughout the year, as are the various sporting activities available in the area, including great fishing (trout fishery ½ mile), golf and gliding.

Whisky trails and the ski centres of Glenshee and Lecht are
all easily reached. Shops and pub 2½ miles.

Ballater Caravan and Campsite

 

 

 

With its stunning scenery and open view of the rugged hills the caravan park is set beside the River Dee.

Invercauld Caravan Club Site

The site is on the fringe of the village of Braemar, 1100 feet above sea level, and the eastern gateway to the Cairngorms, an ideal centre for walkers and mountain bikers (mountain bikes can be hired locally). Herds of red deer roam freely and you may also glimpse capercaillie, red squirrels and badgers, golden eagles and herons.

 

 

Braemar is the scene of the annual Highland Gathering, usually attended by members of the Royal Family and held on the first Saturday in September. The site opens in December for the Winter Sports season, is purpose-built for family skiers, and is close to Glenshee (9 miles) with its snow cannons and the Lecht with its dry ski slope.

For some spectacular scenery, take the high road to Tomintoul for a view of the countryside towards the rugged coastline and sea beyond.
